Getting Started with HP ePrint Mobile Apps

This document describes how to get started with the HP ePrint mobile app and HP ePrint Home & Biz . 

The HP ePrint mobile app is an update to HP ePrint Home & Biz for Apple mobile devices. HP still supports HP ePrint Home & Biz for Android mobile devices. HP recommends that you upgrade to the HP ePrint mobile app on your Apple mobile device.

What is the HP ePrint mobile app?

The HP ePrint mobile app is the essential app to support all your HP mobile printing needs. The HP ePrint mobile app is available for Apple iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch, running iOS 4.2 or later. You can easily print your digital content wirelessly to supported HP printers on a local Wi-Fi network. Also, if a supported HP ePrint-enabled printer is registered with ePrintCenter, print via the Cloud at home, the office, or on-the-go, whenever the printer is connected to the Internet. Additionally, print to thousands of HP ePrint Public Print Locations worldwide.

The HP ePrint mobile app is available for free in the Apple App Store or as an update to HP ePrint Home & Biz.

What is HP ePrint Home & Biz?

HP ePrint Home & Biz is a free app for Nokia – Symbian mobile devices that lets you view, share, and print photos, documents, and web pages. You can print wirelessly to supported HP products in a local Wi-Fi network. Also, if a supported HP ePrint-enabled product is registered with ePrintCenter, you can print wirelessly to that product when it is connected to the Internet. You can also scan pictures and documents using the supported scanning feature on your HP product. After scanning, you can either print the results immediately or store them on your mobile device. HP ePrint Home & Biz does not support scanning from Android mobile devices. HP ePrint Home & Biz is no longer supported on Apple devices and has been replaced by the HP ePrint mobile app.

Getting started with HP mobile apps

Your HP mobile printing solution depends on the type of mobile device you own. Choose the mobile app that is right for you.

HP ePrint mobile app (iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch only)

Use the following steps to get the HP ePrint mobile app on your Apple mobile device.

Step one: Get the HP ePrint mobile app

Use one of the following methods to install the HP ePrint mobile app.

Method one: Install the HP ePrint mobile app using your Apple device

1. On your Apple device, open the Apps Store .
2. In the Apps Store Search feature, type HP ePrint , and then tap Search .
3. In the Search results section, tap HP ePrint , tap FREE , and then tap INSTALL .
4. If prompted, provide your iTunes account information, and then tap OK .

Method two: Install the HP ePrint mobile app using iTunes on your computer

1. Open iTunes on your computer.
2. Click iTunes Store from the left pane to open the iTunes Store.
3. In the Search feature, type HP ePrint and then press Return .
4. In the Search results section, find the app, and then click the GET APP button.
5. If prompted, provide your iTunes account information, and then click OK .
6. After the download is complete, connect your Apple device to the computer.
7. Select your Apple device in the left pane of iTunes, click the Applications tab, click Apply , and then click Sync .

Step two: Activate the mobile app with HP ePrintCenter (optional)

Why should I activate at HP ePrintCenter?
If you activate at ePrintCenter , you unlock all the features of the HP ePrint mobile app. You can print to any HP ePrint-enabled printer (to which you have been given access) from anywhere your mobile device has Internet access. You can also print Microsoft Office documents and Web pages, or save the Web pages to print later. HP ePrint mobile app even helps you with HP printer setup and lets you monitor the status of your print jobs.
If you do not activate at ePrintCenter , you can still print directly to your supported Wi-Fi-enabled HP printer, but only when your mobile device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network. You can print photos, images, PDFs, and text files saved on your mobile device.

Use the following steps to Activate the mobile app with HP ePrintCenter.

1. On your Apple device, tap the HP ePrint icon, and then tap Activate .
2. Type your email address in the Activate using your email box, and then tap Activate .
3. Check your email. The HP ePrint service will send you an email containing an Activation Code.
4. Write down the Activation Code.
5. On the Apple device, press the Home button ( ) twice, and then tap HP ePrint .
6. Type the Activation Code into the box, and then tap Activate .
   The app displays a message to confirm activation.

HP ePrint Home & Biz (Android and Nokia - Symbian)

Use the following steps to get HP ePrint Home & Biz on your mobile device.

Step one: Get HP ePrint Home & Biz

Choose your mobile device for instructions on how to install the mobile app on your device.

Android

1. On your mobile device, go to the Google Play Store .
2. Search for 'HP ePrint Home & Biz .'
3. Tap HP ePrint Home & Biz from the list of search results, and then tap Download to download the free app.
4. Tap Accept & download . The download begins.
5. When the installation completes, tap Open , and then tap I Agree to accept the HP Terms of Use.

Nokia - Symbian

Use one of the following methods to install HP ePrint Home & Biz.

Method one: Install HP ePrint Home & Biz using your mobile device

1. On your mobile device, go to the Ovi Store , and then sign in with your Google account.
2. Search for 'HP ePrint Home & Biz .'
3. Tap or select HP ePrint Home & Biz from the list of search results, and then tap or selectDownload to download the free app.
4. Tap or select Accept & download . The download begins.

Method two: Install HP ePrint Home & Biz using your computer

1. On your computer, go to the Ovi Store , and then sign in with your Google account.
2. Search for 'HP ePrint Home & Biz .'
3. Click HP ePrint Home & Biz from the list of search results, and then click Download to download the free app.
4. Click Accept & download . The download begins.
5. Sync your mobile device.

Step two: Register with HP ePrintCenter (optional)

Choose your device, and then follow the instructions to register the app at HP ePrintCenter.

Why should I register at HP ePrintCenter?
If you register at ePrintCenter , you unlock all the features of the mobile app. You can print to any HP ePrint-enabled printer (to which you have been given access) from anywhere your mobile device has Internet access. You can also print Microsoft Office documents and Web pages, or save the Web pages to print later. HP ePrint Home & Biz even helps you with HP printer setup and lets you monitor the status of your print jobs.
If you choose not to register at ePrintCenter , you can still print directly to your supported Wi-Fi-enabled HP printer, but only when your mobile device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network. You can print photos, images, PDFs, and text files saved on your mobile device. You can also scan from your supported HP device to the mobile app, or capture an image using your mobile device. The iOS version of HP ePrint Home & Biz also allows your mobile device to act as a driver to transfer files to your PC or Mac.

Android

1. On your mobile device, tap HP ePrint Home & Biz , tap Settings , and then tap Registration .

2. Type your email address, and then tap Send . HP ePrintCenter sends you an email.
3. In the email, make a note of the four-digit PIN code.
4. Tap HP ePrint Home & Biz to open the app again, type the four-digit PIN, and then tap OK .

Nokia - Symbian

1. On your mobile device, tap or select HP ePrint Home & Biz , and then tap or select Registration .

2. Type your email address, and then tap or select Submit . HP ePrintCenter sends you an email.
3. In the email, make a note of the four-digit PIN code.
4. Tap HP ePrint Home & Biz to open the app again, type your email address, and then tap or select Send .
5. If you want to register another email address, follow these steps:
   1. On your mobile device, tap HP ePrint Home & Biz .
   2. Tap or select Settings , tap or select Register Another Email , and then follow the on-screen instructions to complete the registration.
