If you want to print from your iPad to an HP ePrint-enabled printer, HP has a mobile printing solution to fit your needs. You can use HP ePrint, the HP ePrint mobile app, or Apple's AirPrint. This document provides steps to print with these mobile printing solutions.

No special software or additional iPad app download is required to print with ePrint . But, before you proceed with these steps, you must enable Web Services on your HP ePrint-enabled printer and register at HP ePrintCenter to get your ePrint email address.
If you have not already enabled Web Services or registered at HP ePrintCenter to use ePrint, use the following steps to find instructions for your HP product.
- Go to the support page for your printer .If prompted, enter your printer model in the search box, and then click Next .
- In the Question or keywords search box, type Getting Started with ePrint , and then press Enter .
- Make sure that your printer is turned on, connected to your local wireless network, and has access to the Internet.
- On your iPad, find the document or photo that you want to print.
- Type or select your ePrint email address in the To: field.NOTE:The ePrint server does not accept email print jobs if there are multiple email addresses. Printing will fail if any additional email addresses are entered in the To: or Cc: fields.
- To change print option settings, go to ePrintCenter and log in to your account, click ePrint Settings , and then click the Print Options tab in the HP ePrint Settings window.NOTE:Print options only apply to documents. All photo files print at a default image size of 4 x 6 in (101.6 x 152.4 mm).
- Tap Send to send the email. The print job prints to the main tray. If available, photos will automatically print from the dedicated photo paper tray.

What if I experience problems trying to use ePrint?
If you are unable to print to an HP ePrint-enabled printer, follow these troubleshooting tips:
- Make sure that the printer is turned on.
- Wireless HP printers can take several minutes to join a Wi-Fi network after being turned on. Make sure that your printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network before attempting to print.
- Make sure that the printer has the latest firmware version installed.
- Make sure that the printer has paper and enough ink or toner.
Follow these steps to check the status of sent ePrint print jobs.
- Go to ePrintCenter and log in to your account.
- Click the tab at the top of the page with the name of your product, and then look under Recent Print Jobsfor the status of your print jobs.
Apple AirPrint lets you to print Web pages, emails, photos, and content from apps that support AirPrint. Print options might vary depending on the app that you are printing from and on the printer.
NOTE:Some applications might not offer a print option because the application does not currently support AirPrint. If Print is not an available option, you cannot print from that particular application at this time.
Before you can print wirelessly with Apple's AirPrint, make sure that you meet the following requirements:
- Your iPad is running the iOS 4.2 operating system or higher.
- Your HP printer is compatible with Apple's AirPrint. HP wireless printers released in 2010 or later support AirPrint.
- Your printer and your iPad are connected to the same local, private wireless 802.11 Wi-Fi network.NOTE:AirPrint requires a wireless network connection and does not support public wireless networks, such as public mobile Hotspots. It is not supported on Bluetooth or cellular data connections, either 3G or 4G.
Follow these steps to print wirelessly from your iPad to your ePrint printer with AirPrint.
Step one: Select your printer
- Tap Print . The Printer Options menu displays.NOTE:Some applications might not feature an Action icon, or the Print option might not display. If these options are not available, you cannot print from that particular application.
- On the Printer Options menu, tap Select Printer . A list of available printers on the network displays.
- Tap your printer on the drop-down menu. The Printer Options menu displays again and shows your printer.
- If you do not need to change print options, tap Print to send the print job.
- If you need to change print options, continue to the next step.
Step two: Change print options
The following print options might display, depending on the app and the printer, after tapping Print and then selecting your printer. Follow the steps to change the print settings.
Number of copies
Two-sided printing
In the Printer Options menu, next to Double-sided click On to enable two-sided printing, or click Off to disable two-sided printing.
NOTE:If the printer does not support two-sided printing, the Double-sided option does not display.
Page range
If you are printing a file type, such as a PDF, that has multiple pages, click Range in the Printer Options menu, and then click All Pages or select the page range that you want to print.
NOTE:Range will only display with certain applications and file types, such as PDFs.
AirPrint supports the following paper and photo paper sizes.
NOTE:Different paper and media sizes might display depending on the app you are printing from and on the printer.
- Letter
- Legal
- A4
- 4 x 6 inch photo media
- A6 photo media
With AirPrint, you do not have the option to select different paper sizes. Paper and media sizes are automatically selected depending on the app you are printing from, your printer, and the region in which you are using AirPrint.
For example, from Apple’s Photo application, if your printer has a separate photo paper tray, AirPrint uses 4 x 6 inch photo media as the default paper size. If the printer does not have a separate photo paper tray, AirPrint uses letter-size paper. If you are printing from Apple’s Safari Web browser, letter-size paper is the default paper size in the US region, and A4 is the default paper size in Europe.
While a print job is being sent to the printer, Print Center displays in the recently used apps list. After the print job completes, Print Center will not be available.
To check the status of your print job, press the Home button ( ) twice, and then tap the Print Center icon at the bottom of the Home screen.
NOTE:Print Center is strictly a status monitor for print jobs, and will only display while a print job is being sent to the printer.

The HP ePrint mobile app supports all your mobile printing needs. You can easily print your digital content wirelessly to supported HP printers on a local Wi-Fi network. Also, if an HP ePrint-enabled printer is registered with ePrintCenter, print via the Cloud at home, the office, or on-the-go, whenever the printer is connected to the Internet. Additionally, you can print to thousands of HP ePrint Public Print Locations worldwide.
The HP ePrint mobile app is available for free in the Apple App Store or as an update to the HP ePrint Home & Biz app. Before you proceed with these steps, you must install and activate the app on your iPad. Go to Getting started with the HP ePrint mobile app for steps to install the app and activate it with HP ePrintCenter.
As an example of how to print with the HP ePrint mobile app, the following steps demonstrate how to print an existing photo. For other types of print jobs, review the later sections in this document.
Step one: Make sure that the iPad is connected to your local wireless network
- On the left side of the Settings menu, tap Wi-Fi .
- On the Wi-Fi Networks screen, make sure that the button to the right of Wi-Fi displays an On status.
- Under Choose a Network , tap the name of your local wireless network.
Step two: Print a photo with the HP ePrint mobile app
- Make sure that your HP printer is turned on.
- On your Apple device, tap the HP ePrint mobile app icon.
- Tap Photos , and then tap Camera Roll , Photo Library , or the name of the photo album that you want to print from.
- Tap a photo to open the Preview screen.
- Use any of the following options to edit your photo. When you are done editing, tap the photo once to return to the Preview screen.
- Resize the photo : Pinch open and pinch close to make the image larger or smaller. Note that the quality of a photo can be poorly affected if it is enlarged too much.
- Reposition the photo : Drag the photo to position it on the preview page.
- Rotate the photo : Place two fingers on the photo and move them to rotate the photo on the preview page.
- Undo edits : Double-tap to undo any changes and scale the photo to fit the preview page.
- If your printer is selected, tap Print .
- Tap the name of the currently selected printer to enter the Printers menu.
- Tap All to view the printers on your local wireless network and the available ePrint-enabled printers if you activated the app with ePrintCenter.
- Tap your printer to select it.
- Tap Back to return to the Preview screen, and then tap Print .
Is your printer not available or not selected?If your printer is not automatically found or selected, follow these steps to select it.
Follow these steps to print a Web page with the HP ePrint mobile app.
NOTE: You must activate the ePrint mobile app with ePrintCenter to print Web pages. Go to Getting started with the HP ePrint mobile app for steps to activate the app with HP ePrintCenter.
- Make sure that your HP printer is turned on.
- On your Apple device, tap the HP ePrint mobile app icon.
- Tap Web to open the ePrint mobile app Web browser.
- Tap the Web address field at the top of the screen, type the name of the website that you want to print a page from, and then tap Done . The website opens.
- Navigate to the Web page that you want to print, and then tap Print . The Preview screen displays.

- Number of copies : Click the plus sign or minus sign to change the number of copies that you want to print.
- Color or monochrome printing : Next to Color , select On to print the Web page in color, or select Off to print the page in black and white.
- Tap Preview to return to the Preview screen, and then tap Print .
Choose one of the following methods to print a a PDF, .txt file, or a Microsoft Office Word, Excel, or PowerPoint document with the HP ePrint mobile app.
NOTE: You must activate the ePrint mobile app with ePrintCenter to print Microsoft Office documents. Go to Getting started with the HP ePrint mobile app for steps to activate the app with HP ePrintCenter.
Sending documents as email attachments is an easy way to transfer documents to your Apple device. Follow these steps to print a document attached in an email message with the HP ePrint mobile app.
- Make sure that your HP printer is turned on.
- From your email account on your computer, attach the document that you want to print to an email message, and then send it to your email address.
- On your Apple device, tap the HP ePrint mobile app icon.
- On the ePrint app home screen, tap Email .
- Tap your email account, tap Inbox , and then tap the email message with the attached document.Don't see your email account?If you have not added your email account to the ePrint mobile app yet, follow these steps to add the account.
- At the bottom of the message, tap the attachment to open it.
- Tap Print .
Many Apple and third-party document management apps support printing with the HP ePrint mobile app. Follow these steps to print a document from a supported app.

The following sections list the file types supported by the HP ePrint mobile app. The file types that you can print depend on whether or not you have activated (registered) the app with ePrintCenter.
Activated
If you activated the HP ePrint mobile app with ePrintCenter, you can print the following file types:
- Web pages
- Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (Windows and Mac) documents, including those received as email attachments
- Photos (.jpeg and .png)
- PDFs, including those received as email attachments
- Text (.txt) files, including those received as email attachments
Not activated
If you did not activate the HP ePrint mobile app with ePrintCenter, you can print the following file types:
- Photos (.jpeg and .png)
- PDFs, including those received as email attachments
- Text (.txt) files, including those received as email attachments
To activate the app, go to Getting started with the HP ePrint mobile app for steps to install the app and activate it with HP ePrintCenter.
- On the image, pinch or spread your fingers to adjust the size until it is inside or outside the crop box.
- Rotate two fingers on the image to position the picture as you desire.
- Tap Print to print the image.
- Open the image that you want to rotate.
- Place two fingers on the image, turn them to rotate the image, and then tap Print .
The HP ePrint mobile app supports plain and photo paper. For professional quality printing, use HP paper and HP photo paper.
